What is the Sonex SX-One MicroKnife?
The SX-One MicroKnife is a specialized tool for carpal tunnel release procedures.
The low profile of the MicroKnife allows it to enter through a small incision in the wrist of only 4-5 mm. That incision is the only external cut that needs to be made!
Whereas other forms of carpal tunnel release require a much larger, open incision, or one or more wider incisions to allow for endoscopic tools, the MicroKnife can be guided purely by ultrasound. This means Dr. Williams can enter into the carpal tunnel through that one tiny incision, see where the tool is via external ultrasound imaging, and perform the release with as little invasiveness or trauma as possible.
Once complete, the external incision typically requires just a few adhesive strips to close; sutures are rarely necessary. In most cases, you can return to work and other activities in just a few days – much, much sooner than the weeks other forms of carpal tunnel release require!
