Groin and Thigh Pain Gone

This patient is 3 months from groin denervation. She suffered for 4 years of chronic pain in the groin and lateral thigh after a hysterectomy. Several nerves were caught in scar tissue from this operation that caused severe pain and disability. We removed the RIGHT ilioinguinal, iliohypogastric, genitofemoral, and lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. None of these nerves affect sexual function. All of these nerves are unnecessary. They all traveled to the skin and provide sensation to a portion of the groin and lateral thigh. She is now completely off her narcotic medications, and her pain levels have improved from an 8 to 0-1. Proof that sometimes it is okay to lose your nerve.
