Groin Pain After Hernia Repair For 2 Years Resolved After Surgery

This patient had pain for 2 years after an inguinal hernia repair that radiated into her groin and pubic region. We removed several sensory nerves to the groin including the ilioinguinal, iliohypogastric, and genital branch the genitofemoral nerve. The patient has done very well with this operation. These nerves do not affect sexual function. Her pain which used to be in the 7-8 range has now dropped to a 1-2. She has been able to stop all her medications and resume her previous activities that she has not been able to enjoy for over 2 years. We are both delighted with her outcome.
